Blog Somewhat Useless?
The BBC has now got a "Computer Tutorial". However it's online on the BBC website, so presumably you've had to work out how to connect to the internet and navigate to bbc.co.uk before you can do it. By then, things like moving the mouse and pressing the letter 'n' aren't so much of a problem. Pretty much like a book on how to learn Chinese, written entirely in Chinese.

In other news: Exams all went ok so far. Only 1 more to go next Tuesday.

Blog Money & Happiness
People spend an amazing amount of money on food & drink which is bad for them (Particularly at Christmas). Alcohol, chocolate, cakes etc. This makes them happy for a short time (while they consume it).

People then spend money on the gym, or on special low-fat diet food (usually just after Christmas). They'd prefer to be eating normal food, and they're upset because they spent so much money on fatty food, then on diet food, so their happiness will be slightly lower than normal.

So overall by the end of February:
money + happiness + money - happiness = 2x money + 0 happiness.

I suggest that we abolish Christmas, and that everyone gives me their money, and just does 'normal' things which don't make them happy or unhappy.
Everyone else doesn't notice a difference: by the end of February they're still down some money and in a neutral mood.
I get lots of money.
Everybody wins!

Blog MA1 Finished Forever!
...Well, the lectures are over anyway. Just problems classes and revision left now. And I guess I still have to know the stuff for next semester. And there's an exam in January... and a couple of problems sheets... but apart from that, MA1 is finished.

I go home in a week and a half. That should be good! Except I have to go to work again, and revise. Oh well.

Blog Crap Superheros
A list of the 10 worst superheros ever. Just look at some of their names! Whoever thought Dogwelder or Matter Eater Lad were good names for superheros?
Although I suppose Batman or Superman aren't all that great.

Blog Sin City
Watched Sin city this evening (after playing pool against Sean (The score is now 8-2 to him). It was good: A lot different to most films, and gory and strange... and there wasn't really much of a story or ending, but it was quite good.
I'd recommend it.

Blog Uni still good
2 weeks on, and I havn't posted here in a while. Uni still good: I'm enjoying my course... well... the maths part is good (although a little hard). The Computing part is dead easy at the moment.
I believe this is the third night I've not been drinking since I got here. Probably ourght to slow down a bit, but I'm getting all my work done, and it doesn't cost that much to drink at home. It's also rained almost every day- quite annoying.
Went to some pubs with the Bath Real Ale Society the other night. We got discounts and things, and I met even more people. Also I went to the console-gaming session yesterday. There was only 1 TV (actually, a huge projector) between 25 people, but it wasn't bad. I beat some people at F-zero and got annihilated at Smash Bros.
Thought about joining a D&D party, but decided against it... at least for the time being.
I have to think of a way to make money without taking up much time... I'll get back to you on that.

Anyway, I'm alive and uni is good. Parents coming down for the day on Sat, so that should be good. It also means I can use their car to get heavy things from town to the uni which I've been put off from carrying on the bus.
Will post again soon.

Blog Am at uni
Arrived at Bath University on Wednesday. 'Tis good. There is much beer and friend-making. I've had a lot of talks about the course, safety, library and others, but have got nothing for the weekend now until lectures start on Monday.
Pub crawl was good last night (although very busy- there were ~1000 students in Bath in addition the the regular locals). I lost my group and ended up with a group from another house, but all was good. Someone put a lot of fairy liquid in the fountain, and it went all bubbly and there were mountains of foam on the water. It takes 50 minutes to walk up the hill to the Uni from Bath- next time I will wait in the queue for the bus.

Blog Teddy Modelling
Hand-drawn 3D models
This seems pretty advanced (although I really know nothing about the field). Perhaps a new way of creating all models is on its way?

Blog Xbox 360: Perfect Dark
Rob and I just completed the second-to-last level of Perfect Dark on "Secret Agent" (Normal Difficulty). The object of the mission is to fight your way across a bridge while killing anyone who gets in your way. The best method of doing it is to run out, cause the next 20-or-so goons to spawn, then run back into the base and shoot them with shotguns as they come round the corner. After 3 waves of men the bridge is clear. The next problem is that the base on the far side of the bridge is swarming with cloaked women all with very powerful plasma guns. These kill you from full health and armour in 3-4 shots. The best way to kill these guards is to put one foot inside their base then run, very fast, all the way across the bridge back to your base and kill them as they follow you around the same corner as before. At least after you've killed a couple of them you can grab a plasma-gun yourself and kill them in a more hilarious manner (the plasma gun throws them across the room when it hits).
The entire second-half of the second-to-last mission is completed by luring enemies back to your base, then kiling them as they come inside. You end up with a pretty big pile of bodies in that corner.

...And then, on the 8th attempt when we were literally 3 seconds from finishing the mission... the Xbox locked up. Damn Microsoft!

"Why is it that plasma is always the most powerful gun in games?" - Rob.

Blog Everyone Knows Steve Irwin
As I'm sure you're aware, Steve Irwin (the crazy crocodile documentary guy) was killed by a stingray yesterday. I'm sorry he's gone and he seems to be missed by many. Very many.
Yesterday I woke up to hear that he had died was the main headline on BBC radio 1. If it wasn't for random channel flicking and Irregular Webcomic I don't think I would have even known his name. I certainly didn't expect his death to be front-page news in the UK. Presumably he is more well-known than I realised.
On the internet later, I expected to find a news-post and perhaps a forum-thread about his death on Irregular Webcomic (a character based off him being a main-character in the strip). I was correct.
Digg and Del.icio.us also had the article on their front-pages for at least a few hours. By this time I was thinking that perhaps he was more than just some crocodile man.
Extra Life, which reports some major news blog-style reported the article. Even Ctrl+Alt+Del had a newspost about it on the front page.

It seems that everywhere I go, people are talking about the death of Steve. I had no idea he was such a celebrity. He died doing what he loved.
